Alledged Lincoln conspirator John Surratt in Papal Zouave uniform. He was the son of Mary Surratt, who was hanged in 1865 for her role in the Lincoln assassination. Surratt fled the country at the time of the conspiracy trial, and some believe his mother was executed as a means to force his surrender. He was later brought back to the U.S., tried, and released after a mis-trial. He died in 1916.
