Historic photos

Once upon a time...

...way back in 2006, our noble founder, Victoria Heilshorn, started with a paint brush, a history book and a dream: A dream to go back in time.  After conceding the impracticality of time travel, she instead utilized her background in graphic arts to experience history through the artistic medium.  Working first with commissions, she soon realized the potential of fine art reproduction and set up her first studio, Victoria Heilshorn Studio.  Her work is now displayed across the United States and many other countries through limited and open edition art prints.

But why stop there?  If a picture is worth a thousand words, then nothing beats a photograph.  With the help of the U.S. Library of Congress, National Archives, and many other visual art resources, we expanded our reproduction capacities to include thousands of historical images.  And thus, The History Shoppe was born.  From American and world history to celebrities to space travel, we've got something for every history nerd.  We've shipped hundreds of thousands of photographic prints to every corner of this Great Blue Ship of ours (Earth, guys... I'm talking about Earth).  We expanded yet again to offer wrapped canvas, posters, life-sized cutouts and much more!

The artist's pen beckons, however (or in this case, the stylus).  While no one appreciates the historical integrity of an unmolested negative more than we do, there is something super cool about taking an old photo and sprinkling it with just enough art to make it look recent.  Thanks to modern digitization, we can repair those scratches, cracks and tears, revive the faded snap-shots or even see what Abe Lincoln may have looked like in color.  It truly brings history back to life with stunning effect.  You should check it out if you haven't done so already.  It's pretty groovy in a far-out way.

But rest assured, we will never stray from our first love, which is history in her virgin state - just the way God intended.  This is why the vast majority of our photographic collection is preserved, unaltered History, and every restored or colorized photograph is also available in its original version.  Ain't nothin' like the real thing, baby (yeah, that line was terrible... but I'm keeping it).

If you've read this far, I commend you on your perseverance.  You're a real trooper!  Feel free to contact us if you have any questions, or even just to say hello.  We're always happy to hear from our fellow History Nerds, if only to share a little of your own history with us.

Take care, God bless and seriously... thank you so much for your interest in The History Shoppe by Victoria Heilshorn Studio.  We couldn't do it without you!

And they all lived happily ever after.
