Title - Confederate General Charles S. Winder
Description - Artistic rendition of CSA General Charles Sidney Winder. Winder became the commander of the famous "Stonewall Brigade" after Gen. Richard Brooke Garnett was removed from the position and court marshalled by Stonewall Jackson in 1862 for his unauthorized retreat at the battle of Kernstown. Though Jackson and Winder clashed frequently and were not close, Winder's death at the battle of Cedar Mountain on August 9, 1862 was hard-felt by his illustrious commander. Stonewall wrote to his wife, Anna, that..."I can hardly think of the fall of Brigadier-General C. S. Winder without tearful eyes."
