DESCRIPTION: Of course I can! I'm patriotic as can be - And ration points won't worry me! World War II rationing promotion poster, 1944.
Rationing of food and other supplies was instituted during WWII, in 1942. The United States government did this to ensure fair access to scarce supplies and encourage less consumption on the home-front so that the troops would have the supplies and food they needed. This poster is part of the campaign reminding citizens not to waste food. Excess produce from victory gardens was canned or preserved for later use.
