This poster signifies the war time need for women to self-ration due to wheat shortages with many farmers at war and fewer ships getting into Britain as this occured at the height of German U-boat campaign in 1917. Campaigns to encourage modest consumption of bread EAT LESS BREAD – national ration is 4lb per week.
