DESCRIPTION:  I'm counting on you!; Don't discuss: troop movements, ship sailings, war equipment, 1943.

During wartime concerns about national security increase, and World War II was no exception. This poster reminds citizens that sharing any military information such as troop movements, or other details could help the enemy sabotage the war effort. Depicted on this poster is "Uncle Sam", a figure that symbolizes the United States. He is usually portrayed as a tall white-haired man with a goatee, wearing clothing in colors and designs that are suggestive of the United States flag. The derivation of the term "Uncle Sam" is somewhat vague. Many historical sources attribute the name to Samuel (Uncle Sam) Wilson (1766-1854), a meat-packer who supplied the Army during the War of 1812.  He was known to be a man of fairness and reliability, devoted to his country.
