Soldiers lay dead in the same field where Union General John Reynolds was killed in action on July 1, 1863. He was the highest ranking officer on either side killed at Gettysburg. This field is located near the McPherson farm adjacent to the Chambersburg Pike. It is commonly refered to today as "Reynold's Woods".
